A kiss on your eye. Sweet water cries.
A kiss on your cheek because you know I'm so weak.
A prayer for me. A prayer for a wicked soul.
Nothing is free. Everything's bought and sold.

Its time to go now
so close your eyes
and try to leave it all behind.
I'll be waiting for you,
waiting for you to come,
the one I'm taking home.
You feel it in the air tonight, its so right.

I've had this dream for so long
but I keep hangin on.

If you lose your way now I'll always find you,
be there to guide you home.
You feel it in the air tonight, Its so right.
The tide is rising. We're realizing that were gone.
You feel it in the air tonight, its so right.

I open my eyes and I see,
what I could never dream,
that you'd come back for me.
I hear you calling my name
and you take me home again.
You feel it in the air tonight - Its so right.

This post of Kindergarten imagery is dedicated to those, who in seeking to smear my name, have questioned my artistic credentials and even my right to be an artist, particularly one so influenced by Morrisseau. I'd like to suggest that I too am a "born artist", as Norval purported to be... and I've always been a dreamer...

Stardreamer: White Magic

The original images displayed in this video are inverted black-on-white, pen & ink compositions. Most were created in 2013. The simplest drawings were made as pre-workshop hand-outs for public school students to play with. The sketches I like best I may incorporate into paintings.

Though I prefer to paint commissions intuitionally, my pen & inks offer patrons the option of deciding on a distinct image to be developed into a painting. While it may be emotionally less stressful for both the artist and patron to pre-choose imagery, the inspirational power derived by diving into the mysteries of a subject's "vibe" are often refreshingly profound. Testimonial, To One in Paradise, Ritchie Sinclair, 2012

The first time I saw Ritchie's work, my eyes were intensely drawn to his art: the colours, the lines, and the shapes seemed to be talking directly to my soul. I contacted him, we met several times and he told me about the woodland art, spirit, and how art could be a channel to spirituality. He explained that some of the paintings I had seen were commissions. I got interested and asked him if he would do one for me.

From the whole process, one of the most powerful moments was the day I went to his place to pick up the painting once he had signed it. Ritchie explained how the artwork and I were related. The experience was similar to the one I had the first time I saw Ritchie's paintings: the words he used talked directly to my soul. He described exactly where I was at in my life. The emotions were so intense that there were tears in my eyes. He knew I was at an intersection in my life; that although my future was open and was to be fruitful, for some reason I was still holding on to some elements of my past. I am very interested in history and Ritchie suggested that I transcend my own past by giving it meaning like a historian would do.

This experience was very powerful and meaningful for me. What Richie saw in me, he was able to articulate in his art. He saw the powers that were conflicting in me, suggesting ways to move forward and channel these energies in a way that would allow me to keep progressing in my journey.

To One in Paradise hangs in my living room and I very often sit down, in front of it, and these moments are very intense moments of meditation, which allow me to reflect on the challenges that are mine and the solutions that are available to me.
This complicated oil painting is essentially a "manger scene" that brings together events that transpired during the winter of 1985/86. Central to the painting are the iconic figures of Joseph, Mary and the Christ Child. This archetype has been utilized to portray two healers attending to a prone woman undergoing a rebirth. (I wrote an article exploring this event in an earlier post.)

The Healing ritual takes place within the periphery of the Shuttle Challenger's shocking destruction, so depicted. The crew of the Challenger, like sheep led to slaughter, willingly walked the great path of sacrifice to meet their untimely end, and potentially, their new beginning. High radiant Angels, twinned in Light and Love, arrive to participate in the blessing. Higher still, in a sleigh, rife with presents from the three I see Santa, gliding smartly into destiny. Serious times call for Sirius measures. An Epigenesis in the tunnel of love.

This painting was created to commemorate the birth of my son, Sean, in 1984. The brilliant purity of his sweet presence, still glowing in his mother, left me in awe. With no way to adequately express their beauty I left their features undefined.

My eldest son, Chris, witnesses the dawn while dark clouds foreshadow our path ahead. While in hospital their mother contracted a deadly spinal/brain virus called encephalitis. After multiple seizures she fell into a delirium and in the weeks to follow she flirted with death while neurosurgeons shot blindly in the dark with experimental anti-viral drugs.

In a last gasp effort I received permission from her doctors and the hospital to bring in Ellen Lipsius, a former president of the Acupuncture Society of Canada. My wife was treated to electrified acupuncture in her hospital room on a daily basis after visiting hours. After her treatments I would boil poultices to apply to her spine to remove anti-viral drug toxins. Within two weeks she was well enough to come home. Six months bed-rest and a strict macrobiotic diet left her in perfect health.

I was later told by a doctor that she was one of three women that had somehow contracted the encephalitis virus, and the only one to recover. My sons, now in their late 20s, have been blessed throughout their lives, but the recovery of their ultra-cool mother was their greatest blessing. They were too young to know what they almost lost. Selfishly, I fought desperately for her survival because I couldn't imagine raising our princes without her. I will forever be grateful that I never had to.
Ritchie Sinclairhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15966250165604311601noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2459069651383009699.post-91576909113123487242012-02-09T11:42:00.013-05:002012-02-17T16:28:58.195-05:00The Re>Envisioning (2012) Ritchie Sinclair

The Re>Envisioning

Ritchie Sinclair

acrylic on canvas, 2012, 26" x 42"

--------------------

'Re' is the ancient Egyptian sun god identified primarily with the midday sun however the meaning of the name is uncertain.
Re>Envisioning 2012

2012...The End of the Age... End of the World... Apocalypse Now! Isn't this the fear-based vision that we all have been spoon fed over the years?

But is it true? If perception becomes truth as quantum physics suggests then we are in deep do-do. The signs are everywhere if you feel like looking at them. Thousands of news articles connect the 2012 dots to current events. Birds falling from the skies, beachings, mass riots, the 99%, polar-shifts, earthquakes, sun flares, roving planets and bankrupt countries with counterfeit currencies propping up fake governments elected by corporate media syndicates. And those are just the "realities" of life in the matrix. Just over the impending doom horizon are a dizzying variety of frightening epidemics and World War 3.

Fear is acute. It sells better then love. Politicians use fear to win elections because it works best. Corporations use fear to sell products because it works best. Offering paradise is OK but striking fear into someone's heart really motivates. Bliss doesn't drive one to the polls or pharmacy.

Many people don't share their fears easily, perhaps for fear of making them come true. Fear comes in waves, and then moves on, returning when re-stimulated. Biological fear is (bio)-logical. It makes perfect sense. The form of fear used to motivate us to vote, work for crumbs and consume on command is, in my opinion, a brutal assault on personal identity and entirely "illogical". They've been using adult "monster-under-the-bed" stories to violate us; the imaginative kind that we helped our children grow out of.

My mentor liked to call emotionally charged thought-forms like these, "aberrations of the mind". It was a favourite topic that he often returned to. In spite of formidable obstacles he had developed his own personal power through trial and error and felt that people gave away their vital power too easily to the powers that be and then refused to reclaim it.

Since the 1970s corporate dominance of every sector of society has been escalating. Borders are a thing of the past. Nations have lost power. The advent of the "international" corporation ended national taxation and regulations. Now entire countries owe unpaid debts they can't pay to a machine they don't know. Checkmate.

Most of us have collectively been subject to premeditated, sophisticated brainwashing our entire lives. Who premeditated it? The simple answer is; we did. We've been fooling with our collective psyche for decades. Our addiction to media got the better of us. Just turn on your TV to see the human imagination run amok. These are our dreams in the process of being realized. Our visions are coming back to haunt us. We are each in the 'Truman Show'. Of course we don't want the mass media telling us who we are, but with an estimated 5000+ ads per day filtering into the average person's consciousness you better find a campsite alone to take a breather and remember who you are.

How do we step back from the edge of our self-created abyss? Shattering grand illusions isn't the shamanistic way, especially when a creative shift in perception leaves it all behind.

My suggestion? "Shamanize" your environment. Replace the malevolent spirits. Mass project a better, wiser, more interesting grand vision of tomorrow then the one already dramatized into existence. You have the power to embrace your future, live in dread, or live somewhere in the flux in-between. Your identity is you and your vision quest is underway. Get in the driver's seat!

Experts will tell you that Hollywood simply reflects the prevailing culture of the day, but there's more to that story. Creative intuitives sift through the ethers to bring down what is attracted to them. Their work precedes the manifesting mainstream and therefore the collective arc of time as society perceives it. A musician lives his album long before re-living it through an audience, who are themselves living it for the first time.

Stardreamer, a shamanic artist, has captured the "Big Picture" of global destiny within a 28" x 28" diamond-shaped frame. Inconspicuously packaged as a multi-media sound and visual presentation, the contents within are indisputably powerful healing medicine by anyone's cultural yardstick.

At a glance the "Planet Heart" print is presented as "the first, ever, dual-image, glow in the dark print". It also features an accompanying 8 minute visionary narration with effects and music. Together they create a dramatic sound-scape assisting viewers on their own personal Vision Quest experience. Stardreamer; a name given him by "an old Native Medicine Man", as the Vision Quest story reveals, is a spiritual son of Ojibway Grand Shaman and world-renowned aboriginal artist; Norval Morrisseau. Morrisseau had a vision himself, and Stardreamer (aka Ritchie Sinclair) was ultimately to become his only apprentice of non-Native genealogy.

Herein lies Sinclair's enigma, the son of missionary parents, ironically now, a "white shaman". A master of inspirational imagery, caught between the reverberating values of two cultures yet belonging to neither one. His work is a hybrid, borrowing from the strengths of each culture to create a foundation of insight that provides a significant message to both. The art of Ritchie Sinclair is the story of the greater inclusive family of Humanity; which goes beyond borders, boundaries and bloodlines.

His art expresses a profound sense of perfection, resolution, balance and harmony. First and foremost, Stardreamer is a creator with multi-dimensional talent. Aside from his commanding ability to give life to canvas, he is also an accomplished musician/songwriter and a gifted craftsmen of the written word. And now with the Planet Heart project he has carefully orchestrated the force of his many talents into what can only be described as a magical sojourn of the senses.

His work has been displayed at prominent events throughout his successful career. These include; Arts Against Apartheid in 1986, where, at the request of Archbishop Desmond Tutu, his two-part work entitled; 'Lighthouse' was showcased at all the major events and gatherings. More recently, Mr. Sinclair's mural; "The Meeting Place", a 21' X 16', 28 canvas, a cross-cultural dynamo of vibrant imagery and colour was featured as the centrepiece for the first Toronto International Pow Wow at the Skydome.

Beyond exhibiting his work for the public, Sinclair feels his most satisfying contribution to the world is in his work with young people. He often visits Toronto area schools to initiate co-creative art projects with children so that they may also learn to experience and express their own creative potential. His most recent creation for inspiring "the adult in every child and the child in every adult" is the Planet Heart Project, which invites others to gain a deeper understanding of their own place in the world.

"It inspires insight", he states matter of factly, and after my own experience I am inclined to agree.

On April 18, 1995, the Planet Heart multimedia sound and light show was officially unveiled as the central attraction of Stardreamer's fine art exhibit entitled;"Spirit Unearthed", here in Toronto. After the presentation I witnessed the room erupt with an applause that was far from gratuitous; I sensed it was truly heartfelt. Some were so deeply moved by the experience that they had to brush away tears. To those who experienced the full impact of the show's message, the evening was an unforgettable event. The following Saturday, the painting hung high above the ceremonial stage for Earth Day at Toronto's Nathan Phillips Square; a most appropriate emblem for a day that seeks to unite the world under the banner of greater global consciousness and a deeper respect for the Earth.

As a shamanically-inspired creator, Stardreamer has begun an odyssey that will assist this and future generations in understanding that we are all a part of the great Earthship; each of us a steward of it's destiny, each of us intimately connected to one another by the common thread of our humanity.

The Planet Heart Vision Quest is a sensually rich archetype with a profound, yet simple message. I believe it is an artistic beacon; a visual guide; and a bridge into the new millennium, today. For those that have been waiting; this is the future, the future is now and Stardreamer has already reserved a seat for you...

----------------------

Epigenesis

A true tale "enhanced" by Ritchie Stardreamer Sinclair (1995)

My name is Stardreamer. A name I was given long ago when I was befriended by an old, Native medicine man.

One Autumn, we were sitting in a field enjoying one another's company, when he asked me the strangest question

"Star Dreamer, do you know where the centre of the Universe is?" he asked, with a twinkle in his eye.

Thinking I was being wise, I smiled boldly as I replied by placing my hand over my heart to indicate love. He nodded his head as if to say 'yes' and nudged me saying; "Nope, but you're close". I felt the blood rush to my face, embarrassed for a moment at my near miss.

"Venus, the planet of love, is the centre of the Universe", the medicine man continued, "It's a special place and a source of great inspiration for many a weary traveler". With a quick wink and a nudge I replied back to him; "Well maybe someday I'll visit there!" And the old man smiled.

Years passed and I never thought about our conversation again, until one winter's evening when I woke in a vision... I found myself floating high above the swirling gases and majestic peaks of Venus. Far off in the distance, I could see our Earth, like an opalescent marble, slowly turning as it bathed in the warmth of the radiant sun.

I remember losing myself in thoughts of the Earth, the wonder of life and the magic of existence itself, when without warning, I was dazzled by a blinding light. It was an enormous comet passing nearby. and behind it streamed a brilliant, multi-coloured tail. I watched the fiery ball of light in awe, following it's path as it traveled onward, when quite suddenly, it dawned on me;

It was heading towards the Earth!

Waves of fear raced through me when I saw our precious sanctuary of life threatened with disaster. I was overcome then by the deepest compassion for all the World's creatures. I thought of my family, recalling their faces in my mind. I thought of humanity and the tears of sadness stung my eyes. Watching helplessly, I began to cry.

In the midst of all this, I could hear a faint sound, like the beating of a distant drum, growing louder and louder. Where was it coming from? Was it coming from inside me or was it outside..., somewhere out there in the vast Universe?

The comet plunged ever-closer toward Earth as I stood there trembling and I turned my head to look away. For a moment I found myself staring aimlessly behind me into the gases, still aglow in the wake of the comet's tail. Then, turning back toward home, I witnessed the most incredible event...

Before my very eyes the World transformed into a magnificent, cosmic heart. As the heart appeared before me in all it's brilliance, the comet disappeared. A great peace swept through me and I was entranced by the beauty of the Earth's heart. The drumming became a gentle, rhythmic pulse, softly beating along with my own heart and I was moved from deep within.

Gentle light began falling upon this serene landscape which surrounded me and to my utter amazement, I realized I was now standing on the Moon. The soft glow of the surrounding Moonlight seemed to pulse in time with the heart of the World and everything became tranquil. I closed my eyes then and in that moment I knew, beyond a shadow of doubt, the truth of my vision.

I knew that we shared our World with the Universe in a unique and special way. I saw the faces of the people I love as they cared for one another and I knew that we were all like one big family and that it was our hearts, beating in unison, that had broken the silence of the Universe with resounding waves of love.

When I finally opened my eyes I found myself home once again. Sunlight danced through my window and spoke to my eyes. I looked out upon the rolling fields, adrift with sparkling snow and I knew that all was well. I felt a tender love for all the creatures of the Earth. It was then that I remembered the twinkle in the eyes of my old friend when he asked me where the centre of the Universe was and I finally understood...

It was all just a question of vision.
